While many people might joke about CTE or the effects years of combat sports training might have on one’s brain, the reality is there are real consequences to repeated blows to the soft tissue inside our heads.
In a recent interview Ronda Rousey shut down any idea that there could be a return to the UFC when she spoke to media saying, “But yeah, it’s not happening (speaking of a return) I’m just not neurologically fit to compete anymore at the highest level. I just can’t.” Going on to reveal “You just get to a level where the neurological injuries you take accumulate over time, they don’t get better.”
While Ronda had a ‘short’ MMA career she reveals she already had dozens of concussions that she trained through, having already been a world class Judo Player the assumption was that damage began very early during her grappling career.
While there is no cure for CTE, TBI, there are many treatments aimed at limited the effects of the neurological pathways including Carrick Neurology, Stem Cell, and Hyperbaric treatments.
