PFL Charlotte on ESPN: Battle vs. Rosta Leads Into Cris Cyborg’s Historic Tampa Finale

The Professional Fighters League returns to ESPN tonight with a loaded night of MMA action as PFL Charlotte takes over Bojangles Coliseum in North Carolina.

Headlined by a middleweight showdown between Charlotte native Bryan Battle and Dalton Rosta, the event gives fight fans another opportunity to watch the PFL’s growing roster of contenders compete on a major national television platform.

The PFL Charlotte main card begins at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN, while the preliminary card gets underway at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

But for fans following the PFL’s summer schedule, Charlotte is more than just another night of fights.

It is the final major stop before one of the most significant women’s MMA fights of the year.

Bryan Battle Returns Home Against Dalton Rosta

Battle enters the Charlotte main event with the advantage of fighting in front of his hometown crowd.

The 13-3 fighter will face Dalton Rosta, who brings an 11-3 professional record into the matchup. Both middleweights have plenty to prove, making the five-round main event one of the night’s most intriguing fights.

Battle is looking to rebound after suffering a first-round submission loss to Johnny Eblen in his PFL debut. Rosta is also looking to change the direction of his career after consecutive stoppage defeats.

The main card also features bantamweights Lewis McGrillen-Evans and Brandon Lewis, along with a middleweight bout between Josh Fremd and Jhony Gregory.

On August 22, the promotion moves to Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida, for PFL Tampa—and the main event will feature one of the most accomplished fighters in MMA history.

18-time MMA World Champion Cris Cyborg will face former UFC contender Ketlen Vieira.

Cyborg enters the fight with a 29-2 professional MMA record, meaning one victory would give her 30 professional MMA wins. The PFL has officially announced the matchup as Cyborg’s final MMA fight, making the August 22 event both a competitive challenge and a historic moment in the sport.

The stakes are therefore straightforward: Cyborg is one victory away from 30 professional MMA wins.

A victory over Vieira would allow Cyborg to close her MMA career with a milestone that has never been reached by a woman in professional MMA.

And Vieira is hardly a ceremonial opponent.

The former UFC contender enters the matchup with a 16-5 professional record and brings years of experience against elite competition. She represents a legitimate final challenge for Cyborg rather than an opponent selected simply to celebrate a legendary career.
