A former champion in two different weight classes Carl Frampton was looking to improve on his 25-1 record with a win over former 4 division world champion Nonito Donaire 38-5 as a pro boxer. The bout which was in front of a sold out crowd at the SSE Arena in Belfast Northern Ireland saw Carl Frampton fight a mostly defensive fight.

Beating Nonito Donaire, the fight was never really close over the 12 round affair with the final scores being 117-111 on all three cards. Frampton won the fight, but didn’t impress boxing critics with his performance. Following the fight Frampton said “Donaire is a dangerous Mother F@&ker, from start to finish I stuck to my game plan. I boxed beautifully.”
Donaire who had a damaged eye from strikes didn’t get busy enough in the second half of the fight to win on the score cards. There is some speculation that he will move back down to bantamweight and try to fight at 118 pounds, with a possible bout against Ryan Burnett in the future.
