Dione Barbosa fights Karine Silva at UFC 319 looking to enter divisions top 10

With news Dione Barbosa recently signed a new contract, it was also announced she was accepting a short notice fight against the highly regarded prospect Karine Silva at UFC 319 taking place in Chicago this Saturday. Karine who was originally scheduled to fight JJ Aldrich is looking to rebound after a loss to Viviane Araujo back in Nov of 2024 after putting together wins over Ariane Lipski, Ketlen Souza, Maryna Moroz, and Polliana Botelho after picking up a win on DWCA 2021 series.

Barbosa defeated Karine Silva to win her 3rd professional fight. Silva was already an established veteran with 12 professional fights when they faced each other in 2019 with Barbosa winning the decision at Katana Fight 9.   While the fight occurred on the Brazilian Regional scene, it gives both fighters a since of familiarity in opponent.

Barbosa suffered back to back losses to Josiane Nunes and Jena Bishop before putting together a 4 fight winning streak.  A short notice fight to Miranda Maverick resulted in a decision loss where she has returned back to the win category with a submission over Diana Belbitja at UFC Fight Night this past April.

Karine Silva has prepared for the fight in Brazil with the Fight Nerds MMA team and will be looking to avenge a loss from nearly 6 years ago on the regional scene. Barbosa who accepted this fight on 2 weeks notice as a replacement for JJ Aldrich will be looking to get a win streak started and enter to top 10 rankings with a win.
