Magomed Ankalaev won the first fight against Alex Pereira with a decision after 5 rounds of Action. Chama Alex Pereira needed less than a round in the rematch at UFC 320 in Las Vegas. Headlining the blockbuster Ultimate Fighting Championships fight Alex Pereira was looking to bring the belt back to Brazil against his Russian opponent who was victorious just 7 months earlier.
Pereira came in aggressive and within 80 seconds had his opponent on the round dropped with a huge right hand over the top of a feeling left hook that left the entire T Mobile arena on their feet screaming for Pereira who has grown into one of the UFC biggest stars. Ankalaev had never been knockout in his 14 UFC fights dating back to his UFC debut in 2018.
Ankalaev was the favorite to win the fight, however Pereira looked aggressive from the first encounter and never released. With the victory Chama Alex Pereira is now a 2x Light heavyweight champion and a former middleweight champion who made it known he would love to fight Jon Jones at Heavyweight on the UFC White House card. There is no word on if Dana White is going to allow him to fight and move up to compete for a 3rd UFC championship in a new division.
Merab Dvalishvili continued to show his dominance as champion with a 5 round victory over Cory Sandhagen that was a competitive back and forth affair allowed Merab to se the UFC record for most career takedowns passing the 100 UFC takedown marks for the first time by any fighter.
