UFC 333 delivered an action-packed night of MMA at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, with Alexander Volkanovski successfully defending his UFC featherweight championship against previously undefeated Movsar Evloev. In the co-main event, Petr Yan retained his UFC bantamweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Merab Dvalishvili.

Alexander Volkanovski Defeats Movsar Evloev by Second-Round TKO

The UFC 333 main event featured featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski facing undefeated Russian contender Movsar Evloev in one of the most anticipated featherweight championship fights of 2026.

Evloev entered the Octagon looking to extend his unbeaten record and capture his first UFC championship. However, Volkanovski demonstrated why he remains one of the greatest featherweights in MMA history.

After a competitive opening round featuring Evloev’s wrestling attacks, Volkanovski began finding success with his striking during the second round.

A powerful right hand hurt Evloev, allowing Volkanovski to capitalize with additional punches before finishing the challenger with ground strikes.

Official Result: Alexander Volkanovski defeated Movsar Evloev via TKO at 4:54 of Round 2.

The victory marked Evloev’s first professional MMA defeat and moved Volkanovski ahead of José Aldo for the most championship fight victories in UFC featherweight history.

Petr Yan Defeats Merab Dvalishvili in UFC 333 Co-Main Event

The UFC 333 co-main event featured another championship showdown as Petr Yan defended his bantamweight title against former champion Merab Dvalishvili.

The highly anticipated trilogy fight showcased two of the UFC’s most accomplished bantamweights.

Dvalishvili applied relentless pressure and attempted numerous takedowns throughout the opening rounds. Yan responded with accurate counterstriking, improved defensive wrestling and effective body attacks.

As the championship rounds progressed, Yan began controlling the striking exchanges, landing cleaner punches while neutralizing much of Dvalishvili’s offensive wrestling.

After five competitive rounds, all three judges awarded Yan the victory.

Official Result: Petr Yan defeated Merab Dvalishvili via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47).

The victory secured another successful UFC bantamweight title defense for Yan and concluded one of the division’s most significant rivalries.
