Originally scheduled as a Co Main Event for the UFC Belem in Brazil, John Dodson Vs. Pedro Munhoz will now appear on the Preliminaries of the UFC 222 PPV.
Dodson who is on the last fight of his contract received part of his show money, but didn’t get to fight Pedro Munhoz at UC Belem when Munhoz was unable to make the bantamweight limit of 136lbs.
John Dodson is a former Ultimate Fighter Winner capturing the title during the Mayhem Miller Vs. Michael Bisping season. Currently ranked #8 in the Bantamweight division, this fight will have Dodson facing the #10 ranked 135lber Pedro Munhoz.
Dodson who has a win over UFC Champion TJ Dillashaw and contenders like Tim Elliott, Jussier Formiga, Darrell Montague, John Moraga, Zach Makovsky and Eddie Wineland is looking to fight out his UFC contract. Dodson who lost to Marlon Moraes and John Lineker by decision, took flyweight legend Demetrious Johnson to a decision in a losing effort at UFC 191.
Pedro Munhoz is a Brazilian bantamweight and former Resurrection Fighting Alliance champion before being signed to the UFC. Currently riding a 4 fight win streak Munhoz has defeated Rob Font, Damian Stasiak, Justin Scoogins, and Rossell Doane only going to a decision once during those 4 fights. With a split decision loss to Jimmie Rivera and a decision loss to Raphael Assuncao on his UFC record the Brazilian will be fighting for the finish the entire fight.
