Kayla Harrison had to pull out of her fight against Amanda Nunes just 10 days before the UFC Champ was set to be the Co Main event to the first ever UFC on Paramount +. The 2x Olympic Judo Gold Medalist was forced out of the fight due to a neck injury that forced her to have a surgery replacing actual disks.
Amanda Nunes who was looking to come out of retirement to fight for Kayla Harrison’s Championship belt after vacating hers will now how to wait for the fight to happen. With rumors of Kayla being able to make a quick return, some fans think the fight might even be possible for the UFC White House card in June.
If Kayla Harrison is not able to make a full return that quickly, Amanda Nunes stated it did not make any sense for her to return for any type of interim belt and that she would only be fighting for “the real UFC belt”. No word on if the UFC would force Kayla Harrison to vacate the belt if injury delays her return.
While she just recently had surgery, Kayla already posted a picture of her scar inside the gym. One would assume Kayla is looking for a quick return.
