Ian Machado Garry beats Carlos Prates UFC Kansas City

Ian Machado Garry stepped up again on short notice and fought another tough opponent in Carlos Prates and this time he put on a masterclass in distance and range control to secure a 5 round main event decision over his Brazilian Kickboxing sensation turned MMA fan favorite. Using a good lead hand and continuous movement Ian Machado avoided any significant damage accept the final 30 seconds where Carlo Prates landed some big strikes but was unable to continue the barrage to get any type of stoppage.

Co Main event featured Anthony Smith officially retired after a first round loss to Chinese Heavyweight Mingyang Zhang. Zhang used aggressive strikes to close the distance while Anthony Smith covered until the reg stopped the fight.  Former K1 star Giga Chikadze suffered a decision loss to David Onama who moved to 14-2 with the victory and entered the top 15 in the rankings.

Michel Pereira suffered his 2nd consecutive loss as Abus Magomedov scored a win via decision with other victories by Randy Brown, Ikram Aliskerov, Matt Schnell, Evan Elder, Chris Gutierrez, Da’Mon Blackshear, Malcolm Wellmaker, Jaqueline Amorim, Timmy Cuamba, Joselyne Edwards, also picked up wins at the UFC MMA Event in Kansas City.
