The Dana White Contender Series is more than just a fight, it is an audition, an opportunity to fight on the biggest stage in Combat Sports, an opportunity at a UFC contract. The DWCS award winning show is back with another season of talented fighters and this week the LFA flyweight champion at 125lbs Edurado Chapolin Henrique stepped up on less than 10 days notice for an opportunity. Now 4-1 in the LFA mma promotion Chapolin was a contender on this season of the Ultimate Fighter where he would lose to the eventual season champion in his first fight.
Moving to Gilroy California and working with Daniel Cormier after the opening of his new gym following the TUF season, Chapolin has been working on his wrestling. Following an LFA 215 win via left hook on the 22nd of August, Chapolin quickly turned around for a Sept. 2nd fight against An Tuan Ho where he picked up a decision over the previously 7-0 flyweight giving Chapolin his 5th win in a row.
Despite the performance, when it became time for Dana White to select who would be given a UFC contract, Chapolin was left on stage as the only winner who did not get rewarded a deal. Jean Paul Lebosnoyani, Cezary Oleksiejczuk, Mandel Nallo, and Tommy McMillen all earned contracts to the Ultimate Fighting Championship with their performances.
Chapolin will return back to LFA where he will look to defend his flyweight world championship in an effort to be re-called by the UFC at an alter date. Chapolin who scored a huge KO at LFA will continue to improve and be ready once the UFC gives him the opportunity.
