
Over half a million people flocked to the city of Huntington Beach this past 4th of July to enjoy the Independence Day Celebration at the largest block party west of the Mississippi River. Serving as the Grand Marshal of Sports Current Bellator MMA Champion, former UFC, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce Champion Cris Cyborg was recognized in the community for her outstanding effort and performances in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts as she is considered the only Grand Slam Champion in the history of MMA.
Other notables attending the festive included 10x MLB All Star and Dodger/Padres Great Steve Garvey along with Dr. Christina Glembocki and WWII Veteran Honoreees Doris Zavala, Robert St. Paul. Also present was Coast Guard Captain Ryan Manning and Celebrity Guest Madison Baez in addition to weatherman Dallas Raines of ABC 7 News.
Now in it’s 118th year of celebration for the 4th of July, Huntington Beach CA has grown into a huge festival of events which include a block party, food vendors, carnival rides, the surf city 5k and Fireworks over the ocean following the parade on the 4th of July. Cyborg who earned her American Citizenship in 2016 had this to say about the experience, “I love the Surf City USA, Huntington Beach and it was an honor to represent the city during today’s parade and I hope to have the opportunity to do this again in the future. God Bless America.”
