What a battle the opening fight for UFC Fight Night 129 as the UFC headed to Latin America for their first trip to the country of Chile. The evening opened up with exciting action from Claudio Puelles and Felipe Silva. Felipe Silva started strong and during the first two rounds was really able to display his skill getting the better of Puelles in both the grappling and striking categories, threatening to finish the fight a couple of different times.

As the bout looked like it was starting to head to the score cards, PUelles pulled off a come from behind submission as he secured a kneeler to get the tappet from Silva and the victory in his UFC debut. The official time of victory was 2:23 seconds into the third round. With the submission Puelles improved his record to 8-2 overall and 1-1 in the UFC.
With the loss Felipe Silva drops to 1-2 inside the cage with losses to Claudio Puelles and Mairbek Taisumov his only win with the promotion came against Shane Campbell at UFC on Fox 21 after having started his career a perfect 7-0 on the regional shows. The 33 year old Brazilian will be looking for a win his next time in the octagon.
