South Africa MMA champion Dricus Du Plessis defends UFC belt

South Africa MMA has come a long way from the early days, and now the entire country has a UFC Champion who has defended his belt as DDP Dricus Du Plessis added to his resume with another defense over Sean Strickland at UFC 312.

DDP as Dricus Du Plessis is called used an intense amount of output and forward pressure to stop Sean Strickland’s forward aggression landing a strike the broke the nose of Sean Strickland leaving him noticeably less aggressive.  The Co Main Event featured Zhang Weili against American Wrestling sensation Tatiana Suarez who put her undefeated 11-0 record on the line against the 26-3 Weili.  Weili put on a dominant 25 minute decision to take the undefeated record from Tatiana Suarez and defend her UFC Belt.  Following the fight many fans started to ask for a super fight with the 125lbs champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Justin Tafa, Jimmy Crute, and Jake Mathews all picked up wins for the Australian side of the main card while prelim winners included Jack Jenkins, Tom Nolan, Wang Cong, Colby Thickness, Jimmy Crute, and Cody Haddon.  The full preliminary winners also included Zhu Ring, Jonathan Micallef, Quillan Salkilld, Rei Tsuruya, and Park Hyun Sung.
