The Professional Fighters League may have just added one of the most accomplished free agents in women’s mixed martial arts.

Former UFC title contender Ketlen Vieira has officially signed with PFL MMA, bringing elite credentials, championship-level experience, and immediate title implications to the promotion’s growing women’s featherweight division.

A longtime member of Nova União, Vieira enters PFL with a professional record of 16-5 and leaves the UFC as one of the most respected contenders in the sport. At her peak, Vieira was ranked No. 3 in the UFC bantamweight division and built an impressive résumé that includes victories over some of the biggest names in women’s MMA history.

Among her notable wins are former UFC champions Miesha Tate and Holly Holm, along with victories over Cat Zingano and Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann. Most recently, Vieira defeated the No. 7-ranked Jacqueline Cavalcanti in her final UFC appearance. Her only loss in her last two outings came via split decision against current No. 2-ranked contender Norma Dumont.

A Proven Threat Against the Best

Vieira’s UFC career was highlighted by her ability to consistently compete with the division’s elite.

One of the most notable examples came against current UFC champion Kayla Harrison. While Harrison ultimately earned the victory that propelled her toward a UFC title opportunity, Vieira proved she belonged among the sport’s best. Heading into the third and final round, many observers had the bout tied 1-1, making Vieira one of the toughest tests Harrison faced during her rise to championship contention.

A black belt in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo, Vieira possesses a well-rounded skill set built around physical strength, clinch control, takedowns, and submission grappling. Those attributes could make her an immediate contender in the PFL’s featherweight ranks.

Why Featherweight Could Be Vieira’s Best Division

Throughout her UFC tenure, Vieira competed primarily at bantamweight, a division where she occasionally faced difficult weight cuts. Having previously struggled to make the 135-pound limit, a permanent move to featherweight could allow her to perform at her absolute best.

At 145 pounds, Vieira can focus less on extreme weight management and more on maximizing her athleticism, strength, and durability. Given her frame and physical style, many observers believe featherweight may ultimately be the division where she reaches her highest potential.

That reality creates an intriguing possibility.

Cris Cyborg: The Fight Fans Want to See

With Vieira now joining PFL, one matchup immediately stands above the rest: a showdown with reigning PFL Super Fights Champion Cris Cyborg.

Few fighters in combat sports history have compiled a résumé comparable to Cyborg’s. The Brazilian-American superstar is an 18-time MMA World Champion and recently added another historic achievement by capturing the WIBA World Boxing Championship. The accomplishment made Cyborg the first fighter in combat sports history to simultaneously hold major world championships in both professional boxing and mixed martial arts.

After more than 22 years competing at the highest levels of combat sports, Cyborg continues to redefine what longevity and excellence look like.

Her championship victories span multiple major organizations, including UFC, Strikeforce, Invicta FC, Bellator MMA, and PFL. Cyborg’s championship record stands at an astonishing 18-1 in world title fights, a mark unmatched in women’s MMA history.

A victory in her next MMA appearance would also carry additional historical significance.

Currently sitting at 29 career MMA victories, Cyborg is one win away from becoming the first female fighter of the modern major-promotion era to reach 30 professional MMA wins while competing across organizations such as the UFC, PFL, Bellator, Strikeforce, and Invicta FC.

A Blockbuster Fight for Women’s MMA

The matchup offers compelling storylines from every angle.

Vieira arrives as a former UFC title contender, a top-three-ranked bantamweight, and a fighter who has defeated multiple champions and Hall of Fame-caliber opponents. Cyborg remains the most accomplished featherweight in MMA history and continues to build a legacy that many already consider unmatched.

Stylistically, the fight is equally intriguing. Vieira’s black belt-level grappling and physical clinch game would test Cyborg’s legendary takedown defense and striking pressure. Meanwhile, Cyborg’s championship experience, knockout power, and pace would present challenges unlike anything Vieira has faced at featherweight.

For PFL, the fight represents an opportunity to stage one of the biggest women’s MMA events in recent years.

For Vieira, it would be an immediate chance to establish herself as a featherweight title contender.

For Cyborg, it would be another opportunity to add a top-ranked UFC veteran to a résumé that already places her firmly in the conversation as the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time and would build interest in a possible fight against either Kayla Harrison or a rematch with Amanda Nunes.

And for fight fans, it could be one of the most significant women’s MMA matchups available anywhere in the sport today.
