Dustin Poirier stopped in 4th round by Islam Makhachev UFC 302

Former USA President Donald Trump was in attendance in New Jersey for UFC 302 and sat cage side to watch Dustin Poirier attempt to claim his first UFC Championship belt in his 4th attempt at becoming UFC Champion.

Despite an exciting fight that saw one judge scoring the bout 2-2 on his scorecard heading into the 5th and final round, Poirier would ultimately be caught in a Darce submission seemingly loosing consciousness shortly after tapping to the submission.  With the win Islam Makhachev holds his UFC No. 1 Pound-For-Pound ranking.

15-1 in the UFC Islam used a highlight reel single leg ankle pick to set up the fight ending submission at 2:42 of the final round. With the win Makhachev has now placed 13 victories in a row, setting up a compelling fight with #1 contender Arman Tsarukyan later this year.
