It appears year 2 of the Bellator MMA and PFL merger is going to continue with only the PFL brand moving forward as Ariel Helwani reported that the only show now is the PFL Champions Series with will feature PFL divisional titles, stating there will be no more Bellator MMA events.
Ariel did not say if Bellator MMA titles will automatically become PFL titles for Road to Dubai Champions series however he did have some other additional information. The previous 1 million dollar tournament will now change during the 2025 season as a 500,000 cash bonus with each fighter having their own specific contracts.
The tournament will also no longer feature a scoring points system, rather it will be Grand Prix style with the winner picking up an advance to the next round, and a loser being eliminated. The PFL’s first event of 2025 is scheduled for Jan. 25th and will feature the final Bellator MMA title defense as Usman Nurmagomedov takes his belt to Dubai UA to face Paul Hughes.
Currently there is now announcement on how to watch the fight, PFL has an ESPN + distribution deal however the announcements have not been made on where to watch the Usman X Hughes fight in the USA
