Following the News that Cris Cyborg’s super fight with Kayla Harrison is no longer going to happen, it appears the 16x MMA Grand Slam Champion Cris Cyborg has changed her focus on the #1 contender Leah McCourt who earned the position following a 1st round TKO victory over former UFC Champion Contender and Olympic Silver Medalist Sara McMann as a feature fight at Bellator 300.
Following McCourt’s impressive performance the fighter was brought into the cage after Cris Cyborg’s 1st round victory over Cat Zingano creating a buzz in the European scene as it has been rumored the fight will take place in Belfast Northern Ireland when Bellator MMA gets set for their return following the acquisition by the Professional Fighter’s League. While fans are waiting for a Cyborg Pachecho matchup, this could be a great opportunity to reward the #1 contender as Cyborg’s mandatory before unifying the Bellator MMA and PFL Female Featherweight World Championships like you see in traditional boxing.
Leah McCourt has established herself as one of the Biggest stars in Bellator MMA history. The former IMMAF World Champion, IBJJF World Champion has wins over Manon Fiorot, Janay Harding, and Sara McMann on her resume and is 7-2 in the Bellator MMA Featherweight division having fought in the division since 2019 and after 5 years of competing finally earned the #1 contender ranking.
