Vitor Belfort suffers concussion forced out of Wanderlia Silva Boxing fight

The first time the Vitor Belfort fought Wanderlia Silva he needsd less than 45 seconds to finish the legend at UFC 17.5 when Belfort blitzed across the cage with thundering punches leaving Wanderlia Silva unconscious on the floor. That fight was 27 years ago!

scheduled to fight Sept. 27th as the main event of the 2nd Spaten fight night card Vitor Belfort and Wanderlia Silva were going to run a rematch nearly 3 decades in the making back inside of the boxing ring. The first time they fought it was the first time the UFC had ever promoted an event in Brazil, however Belfort took to social media to announce he had a grade 3 concussion and because of that would no longer be able to compete in the rematch.

At 48 years of age Vitor Belfort might have entered into the ring for a final time as time is no longer on his side and the fighter was forced to withdraw just a few weeks from his fight with Wanderlia Silva. “I Know many people have been waiting for this moment, just as I have for almost 30 years,” Beflort took to instagram. “During my preparations, over theist two weeks, I suffered a very serious injury that requires careful treatment, That’s why I’m here to announce that I won’t be able to participate in Spaten Fight Night 2 on September 27th. It’s not easy for me to announce this here after so much anticipation and effort. I imagine you now how anxious I was, but right now the most important thing is to take care of my health. I want to thank the doctors in Brazil and the USA for their support, but you can be sure that I will come back stronger, because this story isn’t over yet! I know this rematch will happen. I nope my opponent and the fans of the sport can understand this unexpected situation.”
