The UFC Returned to Des Moines Iowa for a UFC Fight Night event held at the Wells Fargo Arena that did a blockbuster 2.47 Million dollar gate with over 15,627 fans officially in attendance for the event. Showcasing 12 fights the main event featured Cory Sandhagen utilizing a 50/50 leg entanglement to gain top position against Deiveson Figueiredo in scramble that resulted in a knee injury and a win for Sandhagen in the 2nd round.
The Co Main event featured Bo Nickal who is perhaps the most decorated american wrestler in the sport of MMA who was 7-0 entering into the fight against Reinier De Ridder a veteran of over 20 professional fights and a former 2 division One Championship Champion.
Other notable performances on the night included Daniel Rodrigues violent KO over Santiago Ponzinibbio, Montel Jackson, Serhiy Sidey, Mason Jones put on a FOTN performance against Jeremy Stephens who returned to fight in his hometown losing a competitive 3 round battle. Yana Stanos Kunitskaya picked up the biggest win of her career as she scored a decision over former UFC Champion Miesha Tate. The Invita FC champion Yana Santos had previously challenged Cris Cyborg for the UFC Featherweight belt. Azamat Bekoev, Gillian Robertson, Quang Le, Thomas Peterson, and Juliana Miller also scored wins at UFC Iowa. Marina Rodriquez retired following her defeat to Gillian Robertson.
