Bellator MMA has been a trendsetter in the sport for over 15 years as the leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion against pushed the boundaries of the sport by becoming the first true Mixed promotional event last year when they hosted a joined RIZIN FF X Bellator MMA event where both promoters worked together to bring the best fights to the fans in Japan.
Building on the success of that first Supershow the two Mega Promoters again joined forces for Bellator X Rizin 2 which featured a full event promoted by Bellator MMA and held inside of a cage, before the cage was lifted into the air and transformed into a Ring which is the fighting surface for the Rizin FF events.
While the night was full of surprises including Bellator MMA featherweight Champion Patricio Pitbull suffering an upset loss to Chihiro Suzuki of the Rizin FF promotion. While the fight was at a 155lbs weight limit, meaning the Bellator MMA belt was not on the line, a rematch is expected to occur at 145lbs.
For Bellator MMA however Juan Archuleta brought home a new belt as he defeated Hiromasa Ougikubo to win the Rizin FF Bantamweight title. Archuleta who once held 4 belts in 4 different weight categories with King of The Cage KOTC now officially is recognized with a major world title establishing him as on of the top fighters in the world.
