Following a skid in the UFC that saw him lose 3 in a row Daron Cruickshank was released from the promotion after losses to Beneil Dariush, James Krause, and Paul Felder. After two quick victories with the promotion over Shinji Sasaki and Andy Souwer Cruickshank suffered back to back losses to Satoru Kitaoka and Yusuke Yachi.
In need of a victory Cruickshank faced Koshi Matsumoto at Rizin 10, and impressed everyone with his Head kick KO. Rizin FF is the leading promoter in Japan currently and unlike the UFC the bouts do not take place inside of a cage, rather a 5 rope ring which is used for MMA and Kickboxing competitions. With the win Daron improved to 3-2 inside the Rizin FF promotion.
19-10 overall Cruickshank made his UFC debut during the finale of the ultimate fighter 15 and had 13 fights with the promotion before moving his talents to Asia and to compete under Sakakibara’s RIZIN FF. Just 32 years of age Daron is a representative of the Michigan Top Team and made his professional MMA debut in 2009 with the King of the Cage promotion.
