Terence Crawford took the long route. World Champion at 135lbs, undisputed at 140lbs, and now undisputed at 147lbs. Crawford cemented his name and legacy in the history books with a record performance Saturday night in Las Vegas against Errol Spence Jr
After losing the first round, Crawford floored Spence in round 2 and twice in round 7 on his way to claiming the IBF, WBA, WBC belts to go along with his WBO Belt at 147 lbs. During the 9th round Crawford put the fight away buckling a bruised and swollen Spence and unloading several powerful unanswered shots forcing the Ref to stop the fight 2 minutes and 32 seconds into the round.
After winning the opening round, Spence went on to lose the next 8 rounds and while he contested the stoppage, many in the arena felt his corner should have already stopped the fight after round 7 when he suffered a 10-7 round after being knocked down twice which largely placed the fight out of reach on the score cards.
The fight proved Crawford the best Boxer of a generation with many legends making it out to the fights including Eminem, Jerry Jones, Al Davis, Chance the rapper, E40, Chris Brown, Shannon Sharpe, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, Paul Pierce, and more flying to Vegas to be in attendance.
