The Professional Fighters League has announced the full lightweight division for their upcoming Grand Prix Tournament. While the PFL MMA tournament previously was ‘points merit’, this years tournament will change to a win and advance, lose and you are out Grand Prix style format.
The bracket of 8 athletes includes Gadzhi Rabadanov and Alexander Shabliy from Russia. Brent Primus and Clay Collard from the USA. Alfie Davis and Marc Diakiese from England, Jay Jay Wilson from New Zealand and Mads Burnell from Denmark. The two alternates for the Grand Prix will be Sergio Cossio from Mexico and Robert Watley from the USA.
The upcoming 2025 PFL World Tournament will feature all opening round fights taking place at the Universal Studios in Orlando Florida and will air on ESPN 2, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN +. The winner of the lightweight Grand Prix will receive a half a million dollar bonus on top of the salaries they earned for each of the 3 fights. The professional fighters league (PFL) is a global mixed martial arts league with world wide distribution. PFL currently broadcast and streams to 190 countries with a team of 20 media partners.
Cris Cyborg won the PFL SuperFight Championship in Oct of 2024 defeating 2x PFL Tournament Champion Larissa Pacheco via a 5 round decision. With the victory Cyborg earned her 5th promotional championship and secured her 17th victory during a World Championship fight. Cyborg will return to the PFL in 2025, however March 3rd she is returning to Professional Boxing with an international fight in Colombia.
