Possibly the greatest Bellator MMA fighter of All time, Patricio Pitbull Freire finally got his wish and is now a UFC fighter. The athlete who struggled to merge with the new company following the Bellator MMA and PFL merger has moved past his contentious relationship with his former employer. Stepping into a major fight April 12th on the main card of the UFC 312 PPV Pitbull will face Yair Rodriguez.
Patricio Freire has a career record of 36-7 and was a Bellator MMA champion at both flyweight and lightweight during his tenure with the company. With three title reigns and wins over AJ Mckee, Emmanuel Sanchez, Pedro Carvalho, Juan Archuleta, Daniel Weichel, and Daniel Straus, Pitbull is without question one of the greatest featherweights of an entire era in MMA.
With a 1st round KO over Michael Chandler also on his resume, it is safe to say there are plenty of exciting fights for this Brazilian superstar. First up will be Yair Rodriguez who is 19-5 as a rpo and has lost two consecutive fights against Brian Ortega and Alexander Volkanovski. A win over Yair could put Pitbull Freire on the short track to a UFC featherweight title fight.
Do you think we will see other PFL or Bellator MMA fighters look to move to the UFC after their contracts have finished?
