Known as the vanilla gorilla and training out of the Jackson wink Mma gym in Albuquerque New Mexico, Chase Sherman came into this fight already with 5 UFC bouts under his belt and a 2-3 record with a KO loss to Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC Fight Night 122 in his last fight. With wins over Damian Grabowski and Rashad Coulter, Sherman was looking to bring his record to .500 in UFC Competition.

Justin Willis after starting his career 4-1 has won two in a row with the UFC capturing a KO win over Allen Crowder at UFC 218 and a decision win against Jame Mulheron at UFC Fight Night 113. The World Series of Fighting and Inoki Genome Fight veteran entered the cage looking to keep his perfect record in the UFC intact.

The heavyweight fight was all action, with Sherman showing everyone how big of a chin he actually has.  Starting the fight with a crack, Sherman quickly found himself on the mat underneath the heavyweight Ground and pound of Justin Willis. Round two Sherman was able to get a bit more of a rhythm in the action in a round where Willis probably was able to win the round by position and being active. The third round was Chase Sherman best round, however at the end of the fight it was Justin Willis with a decision win.
