
Former UFC and Strikeforce World Champion Miesha Tate has announced her return to the UFC against former title challenger Yana Santos at UFC Iowa taking place May 3rd. Miesha who briefly made an attempt at 125lbs before returning to Bantamweight will face a former Invicta FC champion in Yana Santos who once faced Cris Cyborg for the UFC Featherweight World Title. With the return the the UFC Miesha is looking to show she “Still got what it takes” as she encouraged doubters to “please stick around” on her Instagram announcement of the bout.
Tate who is 20-9 overall as a professional Miesha picked up a performance of the night bonus for her submission victory over Julia Avila last December 2023 and with Santos her opponent being ranked 11th in the Bantamweight division would be looking to climb back into title contention one last time with a victory.
Santos picked up a May 3rd win over Chelesa Chandler who missed weight. 15-8 overall Yana will face the 10th ranked Miesha having won 1 out of her past 4 fights with losses to Holly Holm, Irene Aldana, and Karol Rosa during that span. 5-5 overall in the UFC Yana Santos could be in a win or go home position in her career.
