
Mayra Bueno Silva picked up the biggest win of her career as the main event of UFC on ESPN 49 however following the results of a post fight drug test which revealed Sheetara had medicine for treating ADHD but on the banned performance enhancing list in her system, the victory will stand no more. The NSAC officially announced that the bout between Mayra Bueno Silva and Holly Holm which took place July 15th of this year will be overturned into a No Contest. Sheetara had originally caught Holly Holm in a “ninja choke” submission against the fence which required holm to tap at :38 seconds of the 2nd round. The Ninja Choke submission was the same victory Sheetara used to win her UFC contract after a DWCS Victory in Brazil for season 1.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission which caught the testing violation and not USADA, the testing partner of the UFC until December, fined Mayra Bueno Silva 15% of her purse which was a total of $11,250 which means “purse salary” was set at 75K it should be noted that this would not include any performance bonuses, sponsorship fees, or additional tv revenue bonuses. With the No Contest the win was reversed, additionally the athletic commission suspended Bueno Silva 4.5 months which will officially end Nov. 29th of 2023.
Holm who celebrated her 42nd Birthday this week had won 3 of 4 heading into the Sheetara matchup with the only defeat a controversial split decision to Ketlen Vieira. While the loss to Sheetera has changed to a No Contest, there has been no word on if the matchup will be re-booked at another date, or if both fighters will look towards different opponents. Holm was winning the first round prior to the submission.
