Marcus Buchecha is one of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighters and after signing with One Championship the 13x IBJJF World Champion and 2x ADCC Gold Medalist has not had a fight since his 2023 loss via decision to Reug Reug in a wild fan favorite fight. Buechecha was 4-0 in the promotion prior to that fight.
Speaking on social Media Buchecha wrote, “A lot of people are asking me lately if I retired, The answer is of course not, the reason I’m not fighting is not my choice, I’ve been out waiting for a fight for almost one year but I don’t have luck getting a fight, that’s the reason I’m away from cage or the mats.”
With rumors of One Championship possibly having financial problems, several of the promotions biggest stars have reached out publicly to voice concerns over lack of bookings, or have out right fought outside of their contracts. While Buchecha made the post of social media, several teammates posted in support of the fighter including ATT Coach Marcos Parrumpa who commented “Worst show ever.” in relationships to One Championship.
