Wow! Could Khabib Nurmagomedov really be stepping away from the sport of Mixed Martial Arts completely? The undefeated former UFC lightweight Champion retired from competition but has been an active promoter and coach within the sport having cornered athletes in Bellator MMA, UFC, Rizin, and several other highly regarded international events.
Posting to his Instagram stories a post was translated and shared online that indicated that “Khabib is leaving the MMA industry It’s about coaching and everything related to MMA. The reason is Khabib’s desire to devote more time to his family.”
The news was later confirmed by AKA coach Javier Mendez who worked with Nurmaomedov both as a trainer and a corner person. Khabib is married and has three children. A lifelong martial artist Khabib followed in his father’s legacy and has established a Dagestan legacy in martial arts
