Karate Combat was in Nashville Tennessee this week as part of the Bitcoin 2024 festivals. Karate Combat 48 took place in front of a sold out crowd and was shown of UFC Fight Pass. The main event featured Antonio Arroyo against Karate Combat Champion Smiling Sam Alvey. Alvey went on to win a decision to defend his belt.
The Co Main event featured Cristian Perez against John Marqueze who was making his Karate combat debut. Marquez would go on to win in a 4th and deciding ‘final round’ as the Karate Combat show calls for a final deciding round if the fight is ruled a draw after 3.
Aljamain Sterling went on to defeat American Top Team athlete Jay Jay Wilson in a Pit Submission match while former Ultimate Fighter winner Efrain Escudero defeated Brandon Jenkins in a FOTN effort. Brazilian Webner Almeida defeated Peter Caballero by TKO. The event was a great success with Cris Cyborg telling Robin Black during the broadcast that she would love a chance to rematch Jorina Baars in Karate Combat rules.
