Jai Opetaia won the inagural Zuffa Boxing Championship after having his IBF belt offiically stripped before his fight with Brandon Glanton started. Opetaia who improved to 30-0 against Brandon Glanton struggled to get the veteran out of there.
Opetaia who holds the Ring Magazine championship picked up the Zuffa Boxing Belt with a win of 119-106 over Glanton who had lost 3 out of his last 5 bouts heading into the title fight.
Glanton showed great heart for his effort going the full 12 rounds without a knockdown. Opetaia was deducted a point in the 11th round and referee Allen Huggins took a point from Glanton in rounds six and 8.
The challengers Zurdo and David Benavidez are still waiting for Opetaia who claims to want to shoot for undisputed in an interview post fight with Max Kellerman. David Benavidez and Gilberto Zurdo Ramirez will fight to unify the WBA and WBO belts with Opetaia being the next logical opponent for the winer.
