Cris Cyborg has literally beaten every female fighter ranked in the top 10 with the acceptation of Leah McCourt (Whom Cyborg called out Saturday night following her win at PFL Lyon). Cyborg who grabbed the microphone following her PFL Europe victory and her 18th World Championship title in the Featherweight division also gave fans a secondary idea as she purposed the idea of a PFL MMA Superfight where the Featherweight Champion (Cris Cyborg) would face off agains the Flyweight Champion (Dakota Ditcheva) in a superfight where the two would meet at 135lbs.
Cyborg who had previously attempted to make the Bantamweight division while in the UFC went on to speak during post fight interviews saying that now that she is in her 40’s that her body no longer carries the same amount of muscle that it did in her 30’s and 20’s. Similar to Jose Aldo late in his career, Cyborg now feels making the bantamweight limit of 135lbs in a real possibility.
Dakota Ditcheva recently signed a new long term deal with the PFL MMA organization and at 15-0 in the flyweight division has ran through most of the competition. While some fans were quick to dismiss the fight as too much of a weight difference, Cyborg suggested the two meet at 135lbs. With Amanda Nunes having fought Valentina Shevchenko twice at 135lbs, the idea might not be as crazy as it sounds. Add to the fact even Bellator MMA Champion Liz Carmouche has fought for a world title at 135 when she faced Ronda Rousey and the idea starts to gain some momentum. Even recently departed Kayla Harrison who is currently the UFC Bantamweight champion after winning the PFL MMA Lightweight belt at 155lbs has called for a superfight with Valentina Shevchenko moving up to 135lbs.
For the PFL MMA a fight between Cris Cyborg and Dakota Ditcheva is without a doubt the biggest fight the promotion can make in the female divisions. Cyborg who announced she will only have 1 final fight left in her career has given the promotion a chance to secure a legendary fight for the fans. While Cyborg seems to be up for the challenge, as of this blog post there has been no response from Dakota Ditcheva who is currently in Phuket Thailand preparing for her return to the cage.
Would you like to see Cyborg X Dakota for her retirement fight? Or would you prefer Cyborg cleans out the division with a bout against the former number 1 Bellator MMA contender Leah McCourt in her final appearance inside the cage? Leave your comments below.
