Gable Stevenson wants to prove point with Dirty Boxing fight

Gable Stevenson is perhaps this generations most decelerated wrestler to transition to MMA, certainly at the Heavyweight limit.  An Olympic Freestyle gold medalist Stevenson who made his MMA debut with a successful 1st round victory in LFA will face Billy Swanson in his first Dirty Boxing fight on Oct. 30th.

Dirty Boxing DXB is a new Hibred striking sport that mixes elbows with clenching and punches while allowing for standing ground and pound.   Stevenson recently gave an interview stating he took the fight to showcase his ability to strike in addition to his ability to wrestle.  Speaking with MMA Junkie Gable Stevenson said “This is the best thing for me because I want to answer all these questions, Can Gable Stevenson strike? We’ll see Oct. 30th”.

Stevenson won a freestyle gold at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo before heading to the NFL and the WWE before an eventual transition into MMA following a training camp with the all time great Jon Jones of the UFC.  Stevenson returned to wrestling after suffering a loss to Wyatt Hendrickson at the NCAA finals in what was considered one of the biggest upsets in the history of NCAA wrestling.

When asked about the idea of competing in DXB for Gable Stenenson Cris Cyborg had this to say, “I have competed in everything individually from wrestling to Muay Thai to boxing and Brazilian jiu jitsu and I believe they have all made me a better MMA fighter. I am excited to see what Gable Stevenson is able to accomplish Oct. 30th.
