It looks like as long as the UFC can come to new contract terms with former Bellator Champion Eddie Alvarez that he will be rematching Dustin Poirier in Calgary Canada on the 28th of July. Currently the UFC has already made an announcement that Jeremy Stephens will face Jose Aldo at this event.
The UFC which has a great following in Canada will be looking to return to Canada with an explosive fight card. The last time Eddie Alvarez faced Dustin Poirier the bout was ruled a NC after knees to a downed opponent where landed by Poirier which caused Alvarez to be dazed and unable to continue.
This is an important fight for the UFC lightweight division which currently has Khabib Nurmagomedov as champion while Conor McGregor is away with legal issues. The winner of Eddie Alvarez Vs Dustin Poirier could very well be the number 1 contender for lightweight. Who do you think would win this rematch?
Not official, but I’m hearing UFC is interested in doing the Alvarez/Poirier rematch in Calgary on July 28. That’s a heck of a main event if it comes together.
