Cris Cyborg truly put on one of the best performances of her career last Saturday as she faced #1 contender Cat Zingano as the Co Main event to the historic Bellator 300 fight card that was held in San Diego California. Cyborg who was facing a legend of the sport of Mixed Martial Arts in Cat Zingano was patient and precise with her striking as she stopped all 5 of Cat Zingano’s takedown attempts before finishing the bout with strikes in the first round.
Zingano who was undefeated in Bellator MMA and the #1 contender at 145lbs was a former Collegiate All American Wrestler and is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt under Atos BJJ. With career wins over Raquel Pennington and UFC Champions Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes many people thought the fight was going to be competitive, which it wasn’t.
Cat Zingano who prior to the fight made promoting the event personal attacking Cyborg’s character, calling her a cheater, insinuating she had never been tested, faced lesser opposition, and was mentally weak learned very early that Cyborg took those comments and turned them into motivation during fight camp. Cyborg’s performance at Bellator 300 might be the best the 16x World Champion has ever looked during her historic 18 year career as a professional MMA fighter.
