Brazilian WMMA fighter Mayra Sheetara Buena Silva is looking to get more recognition as she climbs up the UFC Bantamweight rankings, going as far as to say she would like to be as popular as Brazilian legends such as Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes. A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt Sheetara most recently defeated Lina Lansberg of Sweden at UFC Fight Night 219 via a kneebar submission. Lansberg fought Cris Cyborg at 140lbs in her UFC Debut in 2016 before continuing her career at the UFC Bantamweight division. With wins over TUF Featherweight champion Macy Chiasson, and former Invicta FC Champion Tonya Evinger Lansberg in 2019 she found herself inside of the World Rankings before suffering 4 straight defeats to now Bellator MMA star Sara McMann, Pannie Kianzad, Karol Rosa, and Sheetera.
With the victory improves to 10-2-1 overall as a pro and 5-2-1 inside the UFC after appearing on Dana White’s Contender Series. Having formerly spent time at Cris Cyborg’s Huntington Beach facility after coming off a decision defeat to Manon Fiorot, Mayra Bueno Silva would go on and defeat Yanan Wu in her only training camp with Cyborg picking up UFC Fight of the Night bonus in the process. Sheetera now trains out of American Top Team in Florida with Kayla Harrison and team after formerly representing the Chute Boxe academy.
Winner of 3 consecutive fights, Sheetara might see herself progress to the PayperView events as all three of her previous fights have been either UFC on ESPN fight cards or UFC Fight Night events. With 2 out of 3 of her most recent victories coming via way of submission she has shown a well rounded ability inside of the cage, however during a most recent interview she admitted she was not ready to face a fighter like Amanda Nunes just yet.
