Gable Stevenson is out of the CJI 1 grappling super fight he was scheduled to have against Craig Jones over the weekend in Las Vegas and according to Craig Jones the reason given was ‘Turn Toe’. Craig Jones who has publicly feuded with the UFC BJJ promotion hinted that it was his believe Gable withdrawal was based on pressure given by the UFC. Gable Stevenson who is a USA Olympic Wrestler was supposed to face Craig Jones on the 31st edition of the two day CJI Grappling tournament which is taking place a the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas coinciding the with IBJJF Master World Championships also taking place in Las Vegas.

Gable Stevenson has not released any updates on his end however he is expected to make his professional Mixed Martial Arts MMA debut at LFA 217 which is set to take place just two weeks after the grappling tournament in Sept. 12th Prior Lake Minnesota. In 2020 Gable Stevenson took a gold medal at the olympics after winning two nationals championships and two dan hodge trophies as a collegiate wrestler winning all American honors 5 separate times.

Gable Stevenson had a brief stint with the WWE development program however following his release from the wrestling promotion joined Jon Jones as a part of his training camp ahead of his fight against Stipe Miocic. It is rumored that Craig Jones maybe facing former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen however there is currently no official announcement from CJI. Craig Jones faced Chael Sonnen during the ADCC tournament several years ago.

The CJI tournament will be a team Vs Team format with the winning team taking home a 1 million dollar cash prize and the notoriety of being the CJI top team.
