Ben Henderson looks to become only 2nd fighter in MMA history to hold a Championship belt in Bellator MMA and the UFC

Ben Henderson will look to make history this Friday night as he steps into the Bellator MMA Cage in the main event against Usman Nurmagomedov the cousin of UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.  With a win Benson Henderson could become only the third fighter in the history of the sport to capture the UFC and Bellator MMA Championships.  A former UFC Champion Ben Henderson captured the belt in 2012 when he defeated Frankie Edgar by unanimous decision.  Facing Nate Diaz, Gilber Melendez, and a rematch against Frankie Edgar Benson Henderson tied BJ Penn for most consecutive title defense at lightweight with 3.

Moving up to welterweight Ben Henderson would defeat Brandon Thatch, and Jorge Masvidal before signing with Bellator MMA as a free agent.  Facing Andrey Koreshkov in his debut Henderson lost a decision for the Welterweight belt before making a return to his more natural lightweight 155lbs weight category.  With big veteran performances Henderson has lost a split decision to Patricky Pitbull but has big wins over Roger Huerta, Myles Jury, Adam Piccolotti.  2-0 against Russian Lightweights in Bellator MMA, Ben Henderson will have his hands full with current Lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov

Usman is 16-0 as a professional in MMA with a perfect 5-0 record in Bellator MMA after fights with UAE Warriors, Brave FC, and Gorilla Fighting.  A well rounded fighter Nurmagomedov is a good submission artist, quality striker, and top wrestler.  Cyborg officially gave her prediction for the fight and saying “I think Henderson’s experience will be enough for him and I see the former UFC Champion winning the Bellator MMA belt.”

With the victory Benson Henderson would become only the third fighter to win Bellator MMA and UFC Gold joining Eddie Alvarez and Cris Cyborg.  The Bellator MMA belt would also give Benson Henderson his 3rd career world title including WEC, UFC, and Bellator MMA giving him rights to the Triple Crown Club which Cris Cyborg was a part of before becoming MMA’s only Grand Slam Champion with 4 world titles on her resume.  As Always watch the Bellator MMA prelims on CrisCyborg.Com before tuning into Showtime for the main card.
