
Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega are getting set to run back their fight one more time as the two featherweight superstars get set to meet in a 5 round Co Main Event fight for the UFC on Feb. 24th, 2024 as the Co Main event of the UFC’s return to Mexico City, Mexico. Dana White officially announced the bout on X formerly known as Twitter.
The two latino stars for the Ultimate Fighting Championship both faced each other as the Main Event of ABC 3 last July 2022 when Rodriguez won the secured a first round vitory after Brian Ortega suffered an injury to his shoulder during an opening grappling exchange.
El Pantera went on to capture an Interim UFC belt at 145lbs before losing that to Volkanovski at UFC 266 and has not been inside of the Octagorn since that performance. The fight card for Feb. 24th includes some big names as Amir Albazi will battle Mexican Champion Brandon Moreno while prospects Edgar Chairez faces Daniel Lacerda and Victor Altamarino will fight Felipe dos Santos. No further bouts have been announced.
Fans of Cris Cyborg will recognize Brian Ortega from the UFC 240 fight card where Cyborg defeated Felicia Spencer in Canada. Cyborg will be returning to the ring Jan. 19th as she makes here 1st professional boxing fight in the state of California against the #3 ranked female boxer in the USA Kelsey Wickstrum as the main event of WFC 163.
