San Diego has long been a staple for Strikeforce and Bellator MMA and it now appears as if the new version of PFL MMA will call the city home as it was announced that June 27th AJ McKee would main event PFL San Diego against Salamat Isbulaev. No other fights have been announced for the fight card. The PFL currently does not have a champion in the featherweight division, however Mckee is ranked 2nd at Isbulaev ranked 6th after makin ghis promotional debut last year.
AJ Mckee is 24-2 while Salamat Isbulaev is 10-0. Mckee will be returning to California where he is a Long Beach resident with back to back wins over Akhmed Magomedov and Adam Borics. Isbulaev will travel from Kazakhstan after picking up a win over former PFL tournament challenger Jesus Pinedo with a frist round TKO. With 100% of his fight coming by way of submission or knockout, Isbulaev is considered a real contender.
No other names have been released for the card. Do you think a Cris Cyborg bout could be added to the PFL MMA’s debut in San Diego? Cyborg fought Cat Zingano in San Diego as one of the main features of Bellator MMA 300. Possible opponents for Cris Cyborg could include Leah McCourt, Julia Budd, or Joy Pendell. Cris Cyborg most recently made combat sports history when she became the first combat sports athlete (male or female) to hold a major world title in professional boxing and professional MMA at the same time. Capturing the WIBA 154lbs world Title, Cris Cyborg won a professional boxing championship held by female boxing legends such as Laila Ali, Holly Holm, and Amanda Serrano. having won the PFL MMA Superfight and the PFL MMA Featherweight world championship, Cris Cyborg is a record breaking 18x MMA World Champion. Do you think her retirement fight will be in San Diego Ca?
