Michael Venom Page “MVP” might be one of the most popular MMA fighters in Europe, however the UFC is placing him on the undercard of their return to the UK. A former Bellator MMA contender, Michael Page seems to have made a few people within the industry unhappy with his recent lack of pay talk.
Page was on SkySport News and was reacting to the news that Conor Benn has just agreed to a one fight deal worth 15 million for the Zuffa Boxing promotion. Salary figures are not released by the UFC however there are very few fighters if any at all that are capable of earning that type of fight purse following the UFC’s most recent broadcast deal with Paramount which will result in a 7.7 billion dollar broadcast deal over the next 7 years.
“I hate hearing stories of fighters getting to what is the pinnacle of your career, in terms of the UFC, and still being broke. That just shouldn’t exist. Unless you’re just completely terrible with money, it shouldn’t exist that you’re struggling from fight to fight, and it just shouldn’t be a thing…the only thing I can say isit’s disappointing more than anything.”
Page is 3-1 in the UFC and will be fighting Sam Patterson at UFC London March 21st
