Ketlen Vieira might just be too good for her own good. The number 5 ranked bantamweight in the UFC who has a career record of 10-5 in the organization was officially released by the promotion follow a victory over Jacqueline Cavalcanti who was 5-0 in the promotion and considered a surging prospect.
Ketlen Vieira had some big name wins on her resume during her time in the UFC including victories over Sara McMann, Cat Zingano, Miesha Tate, and Holly Holm. Two of those women where UFC Champions while all 5 of them competed in UFC Championship fights. The quality of losses in Vieira came against top level opponents including decisions to Kayla Harrison, Raquel Pennington and Norma Dumont.
No immediate plans in terms of what direction Ketlen Vieira will look have been announced in terms of continuing her career. Top Bantamweight Larissa Pacheco was recently informed the UFC was not interested in her services after a 135lbs win in Karate Combat. For Vieira KSW seems like the most probable options, while fans have mentioned a possible move up to Featherweight and a chance to fight Cris Cyborg before the MMA Grand Slam Champions retirement from Mixed Martial Arts.
Do you think the UFC should release top talent at the end of their contract if they are defeating new prospects who are trying to work their way up into the top of the rankings or do you think a win should secure your place in the biggest combat sports promotion in the world?
