Israil Madrimov was set to have two huge fights less than 10 weeks apart as the former Junior Middleweiht Champion was set to fight Serhii Bohachuk Dec. 21st in Riyadh Saudi Arabia and then turn around Feb. 22nd and face the unbeaten KO artist Vergil Ortiz Jr on the undercard of the Artur Beterbiev Vs Dmitry Bivol rematch also being held in Riyadh Saudi Arabia.
Unfortunately for the Uzbekistani Israil Madrimov he will no longer compete on the Oleksandr Usyk Vs Tyson Fury Heavyweight rematch as a battle with Bronchitis has forced him to withdrawal from the event. Madrimov who is 10-1-1 most recently fought pund for pound great Terence Crawford. The Ukraine’s Serhii Bohachuk will now face Ishmael Davis on the Feb. 22nd event who is currently ESPN’s #6 ranked junior middleweight and fighting out of England where he has established a 13-1 record.
Madrimov is still scheduled to face Vergil Ortiz on the Feb. 22nd fight card provided he is able to recover from his sickness with Bronchitis. Fans thought there was a chance that 1 or even 2 of these fights could be placed in jeopardy due to the close proximity of the fights being booked together. What do you think? Should fighters book a boxing fight when they already have one matchup they are training for?
