It seems like the media might have jumped the gun a bit prematurely announcing a Co Main event between Dustin Poirier and Benoit Saint Denis for UFC 299, and then again, maybe they didn’t. Dustin Poirier’s bout has been scheduled however sources told that bout agreements ad not actually been singed prior to the announcement.
Poirier announced that the fight was off via social media despite it already being announced as a Co Main event for UFC 299 with tickets already on sale, UFC 299 is scheduled to take place March 9th in Miami and will be headlined by a bantamweight bout of Sean O’Malley against Marlon Vera. Poirier is 35 and has not fought since a KO loss to Justin Gaethje back in July.
After two fights over McGregor and a title fight against Charles Oliveira, following a matchup with Michael Chandler has made Dustin Poirier a fan favorite. Saint Denis is 28 years old and currently winner of 5 fights in-a-row. What do you think was the misunderstanding? Do you think Poirier will get back into the win column at UFC 299?
