Derrick Lewis looked in top shape when he took the Ring against the undefeated Tallison Teixeira of Brazil. Despite the heavy difference in experience Derrick Lewis closed as a +250 underdog with Teixeira entering the cage as a 3 to 1 favorite to get the win.
Fighting in front of a sold out crowd inside the Bridgestone arena the two heavyweights started fast and with a bang the #9 ranked UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis had dropped thundering punches on the No. 13 ranked Tallison Teixeira who had 8 first round finishes prior to the Black Beast.
Lewis had not fought in 14 months but with the win puts himself right back in contention for another big fight at heavyweight. Clarksville native Nate Landwehr put on a tough performance ultimately suffering a KO loss to Morgan Charriere. Steve Garcia picked up the biggest win of his career over Calvin Kattar, and Gabriel Bonfim won a controversial split decision over Stephen Thompson who has now dropped 4 out his last 5 fight and at 42 years of age maybe near the end of his Mixed Martial Arts MMA career with the UFC.
Vitor Petrino, George Tokkos, Chris Curtis, Jake Mathews, Eduarda Moura, Valter Walker, Mike Davis, and Fatima Kline were the other UFC Nashville Tennessee winners.
