MMA’s only Super Grand Slam Champion Cris Cyborg has won championship belts with PFL, UFC, Bellator, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce making her the only 5 promotional champion in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. With 17 World Championship victories in MMA, Cyborg recently revealed her goals of becoming the only fighter to ever hold MMA and Boxing world championships at the same time.
Looking to return to the sport of Professional Boxing, Cyborg took an international fight against the #1 ranked Super Middle weight female fighter in the country of Colombia; Karen Fernandez. Cyborg who headed into the fight with a 2-0 professional boxing record, has also had 2 ‘exhibition’ style fights in Brazil and London on her resume.
Facing Karen Fernandez in Santa Marta, Cyborg quickly established her lead hand in the first round utilizing an effective Jab to slow down her veteran opponent. In the 2nd round of a scheduled 4 rounds of action, Cyborg increased her output production landing several hard bodyshots before eventually dropping Karen Fernandez with a perfectly timed left hook to the body. Unable to make it past the 10 count, Cyborg was declared the winner in round 2 via a KO.
With the victory Cyborg is now 3-0 in professional boxing with 2 KO’s on her record. Fans are hopeful a win over Fernandez will continue to build Cyborg towards a possible mega fight against female boxing legend Cecilia Braekhus who is the current WBC World Champion at 154 pounds. Do you think Cyborg can defeat Cecilia Braekhus in a Boxing Vs MMA cross over fight?
