Cris Cyborg makes Brazil History becomes only 2nd female Boxing World Champion

Cris Cyborg is showing no signs of slowing down after her recent Boxing victory in Curitiba Brazil.  Cyborg who is an 18x MMA World Champion with belts for the UFC, PFL, Invicta FC, Strikeforce and Bellator MMA promotions captured her first Professional Boxing World Championship with a 3rd round TKO finish over vetrean journeywoman Paulina Cardona.   With the Victory Cris Cyborg joined Rosilete Dos santos as only the 2nd Brazilian women to win a World Championship in Professional Boxing.

Rosilete Dos Santos is considered a pioneer and a legend in Brazilian Women’s Boxing. Finishing her career with a 29-5 record in professional Boxing Rosilete Dos Santos from Sao Jose Do Pinhais Parana Brazil. Rosilete captured the WIBA championship Super Fly weight belt with a 10 round decision against Maria Jose Nunez in 2011 defending it twice before vacating the belt after retiring in 2013.  Dos Santos also competed for the WBC Super Bantamweight and WBA Interim World Super Flyweight belts during her more than 10 year career in professional boxing.

With the WIBA Championship belt, Cris Cyborg joins a legendary list of international stars such as Amanda Serrano, Laila Ali, Holly Holm, and Ann Wolfe as female boxing champions of the organization.  With the long and historic legacy in women’s boxing held by the WIBA Cris Cyborg becomes the fist combat sports athlete to hold a major world championship in professional Boxing and MMA simultaneously. Currently 6-0 as a professional boxer with 5 KO’s Cris Cyborg is ranked 3rd in the world as a professional boxer at 154lbs according to BoxRec.

Cris Cyborg is expected to return to the Professional Fighters League this summer to defend her PFL MMA World Championship.   With MMA Belts in the UFC, Bellator MMA, Invicta Fighting Championships, and Strikeforce, Cris Cyborg is the first fighter in Mixed Martial Arts MMA to win 5 Promotional World Championships.  A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt with multiple IBJJF Mundial Championships on her BJJ resume and a former Lion Fight Muay Thai World Championship contender Cris Cyborg is considered one of the most rounded martial artist in the history of female combat sports.
