
When news that CM punk was paid 500,000$ for his first fight int he UFC leaked, a lot of fans where upset that an entertainment wrestler with no previous MMA experience could come over to the sport and earn more money for their debut than fighters like Cat Zingano were able to receive to fight superstar names like Ronda Rousey for a World Title in the UFC.
While UFC 225 is scheduled to be one of the biggest PPV’s of the year, it appears the UFC isn’t confident that Robert Whittaker and Rafael Dos Anjos will be able to draw the PPV buys solely on their own–and as such have put the 0-1 CM Punk on the PPV portion of the card–meaning that Alistair Overeem the #2 ranked Heavyweight contender int he world will now have to compete on the prelims.
While CM Punk was honest, it is clear the UFC is not going to pay an athlete half a million dollars to have them fight on their digital UFC Fight pass platform. With Overeem on the undercard, the UFC was able to bump Holly Holm into the PPV portion of the fight card. Holm who is 1-4 in her last fights will now face UFC newcomer Megan Anderson on one of the PPV televised portions of the fight card. Fans have been critical of the fight, however when Mark Coleman Brought up the subject, CM punk was quick to respond;
