MMA’s only Grand Slam Champion Cris Cyborg is nominated for Fighter’s Only MMA female fighter of the year, but that didn’t stop her from making history earlier this year when she made her professional boxing debut and scored a victory against former Brazilian National Champion Simone Silva after 8 rounds of action to secure the FMS Female SuperWelterweight professional champioship belt and to become the first athlete nominate for MMA fighter of the year and to win a professional boxing fight in the same year.
Cyborg who has trained boxing with the likes of Jason Parillo and Vergil Ortiz Sr most recently made the training trip to Washington state to prepare for a possible boxing fight before the end of the year with Team Benavidez and head coach Jose Benavidez Sr who is father of WBA Champion Jose Benavidez Jr and 2x WBC Champion David Benavidez who became the youngest WBC Champion ever in the 168lbs weight categorey.
Cyborg who is the current Bellator MMA Champion is the only athlete in the sport of MMA to capture every professional championship in the sport at 145lbs including Bellator MMA, UFC, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce. Fans are hoping to see Cyborg announce another boxing fight before the end of 2022
