Ben Askren released from Hospital after double lung transplant

Ben Askren a former Bellator MMA and One Championship belt holder along with an Olympic wrestler has just won the biggest fight in his life.  Askren now 41 years old was sent home after spending 59 days at the hospital and receiving a double lung transplant in the process.  Losing 50 pounds, Askren was put on a ventilator for life support.

Askren who was initially hospitalized due to a severe case of pneumonia needed double lung transplant after holes appeared in his lungs.  Taking to social media Ben Askren posted a video on his social media crying while being transported home from the hospital thanking his wife for all of her support.

Askren went on to say that 4 separate times his heart stopped for about 20 seconds, but after the double lung transplant he seems to be gaining strength and relearning many of his body mechanics including how to walk.  Askren was sure to thank his supporters who helped start a Go fund me to help get his wife and kids through the hard time.

A double lung transplant in the USA is an 800,000$ procedure according to Help Hope Live which is a non profit organization helping provide for double lung transplant financial assistance through crowdfunding. It is reported that Dana White donated along with several other influential friends and celebrities.
